NRRP – Tackling educational poverty
Un passo in più
Investing in early childhood
“Un passo in più” was set up to tackle educational poverty and to act early on situations of hardship that can hold back children’s development. The project is aimed at children aged 0 to 6, with particular attention to situations of socio-economic and cultural vulnerability in the area covered by Social and Health District no. 44.
The aim is to strengthen the network of social and educational services for early childhood, making them more inclusive, more accessible and of better quality, and reducing their fragmentation.
The project includes workshops, linguistic and cultural mediation, training for parents, educators and teachers, activities that build continuity between nursery, pre-school and primary school, as well as listening and support services.
125 children are the direct beneficiaries of the project activities, 70 in the 0-3 age group and 55 in the 4-6 age group, while a further 375 children will be involved indirectly. The project also involves families, teachers, trainers, school staff and social and health care workers, recognising the educating community as a key resource.
